14-Day Tour
Day 1
Meet and greet in Dublin airport.
Visit Trinity College, Book of Kells and Saint Patrick's cathedral.
Take a stroll around the capitol city and soak the atmosphere on your first day on Irish soil. Evening entertainment will be arranged for those with the stamina to stay going. Stay the night in a city centre hotel.
Day 2
After a hearty Irish breakfast, you will be taken to Ireland's premier ancient heritage site, Newgrange. A six thousand year old passage tomb. If time permits we shall visit Hill of Tara, and Trim castle. That night will be spent at a castle hotel.
Day 3
Early morning rise will have us on our way to the north west and drive along the fabulous Donegal coastline, and through Glenveagh national park, full of natural rugged and hauntingly beautiful wilderness. You will stay the night in a Gweedore hotel on the Wild Atlantic Way.
Day 4
You will take the road southwards again. The route will take you into county Sligo, and Drumcliffe, burial site of the great Irish Poet W.B. Yeats, some breathtaking scenery around Glencar waterfall in county Leitrim and settle in the county Mayo town of Westport for two nights.
Day 5
You will see some of the wild beauty of the Mayo countryside, if weather permits we can take a ferry to Inisboffin island.
Day 6
A journey into Connemara and west Galway. The landscapes are rugged and mountainous. Kylemore Abbey is a gem worth visiting. Then, travel onto Galway city where you will stay for two nights.
Day 7
A short visit to the village of Cong, where the John Wayne / Maureen O Hara movie, The Quiet Man was filmed almost extensively at the impressive Ashford castle. Galway city can be visited for the shopping enthusiasts. That evening you will be taken to Ireland's top traditional music and dance show, Trad On the Prom.
Day 8
Time to keep going on southwards and visit the Bunratty Castle and folk park. in the afternoon you will visit the world famous Cliffs of Moher. That night will be spent at a hotel to be selected.
Day 9
We will travel on and into county Kerry, and spend the next two nights in the Dingle peninsula. Travel the Conor pass and take in the stunning views around mount Brandon and Peddlers lakes. Immerse yourself in one of Ireland's designated native speaking areas, yes, they will speak to you in Irish, or as Gaelige as the locals will say.
Day 10
Take a drive around the Slea Head which has some terrific coastal views, and ancient bee hive huts. For those that would like to take a little boat trip to see Dingle's famous harbour Dolphin, known locally as Funghi, a boat trip can be arranged.
Day 11
You will be taken eastwards through county Cork, and into county Tipperary. The Rock of Cashel, and Glen of Aherlow and Saint Patrick's well will be on the list along with many other prominent sites. Two more nights in a Clonmel hotel.
Day 12
One more day through the Comeragh mountains in county Waterford, and Mahon Falls, where the Fairies will perform their magic on the famous "Magic Road" . You will take a stunning drive on the Copper coast, and pass through Ireland's oldest city, Waterford, which is also famous for its line of crystal. Time permitting you will get to county Wexford to visit the Dunbrody Famine ship in New Ross.
Day 13
The final day travelling Ireland will take you to Kilkenny, and onto County Wicklow. The places to visit will be Glendalough and Powerscourt, which are situated in the always beautiful Wicklow mountains, also known as the "Garden of Ireland." You will stay the night in a county Wicklow Hotel, close to Dublin airport.
Day 14
Time to wave goodbye to a country which will have performed it's magic and left an indelible mark on your heart!
